This past April, three high school students from Sekolah Kristen Calvin — Alicia Christy Amanda, Jason Hertanto, and Natalie Briliana Tjahjono — successfully qualified for the 2025 International Youth Art Contest organized by the International Art Museum of America (IAMA) in San Francisco, USA.
Out of approximately 1,300 international participants, around 400 of the best artworks were selected for exhibition. By God’s grace and the artistic talents He has given them, the three students created works that are not only visually beautiful but also rich in meaning.
The creation process began back in February. The students completed their artworks through a long journey of hard work, guided by Mr. Samuel, the art teacher at Sekolah Kristen Calvin. Mr. Samuel provided direction and feedback even outside of school hours — offering support late into the night and remotely when needed. This journey was also made possible by the unwavering support of their parents, who stood by them throughout the process.
Each artwork tells its own story. Alicia portrayed the serene and calming beauty of nature through a painting of a powerful waterfall amidst a peaceful landscape. Jason chose a Greek mythology theme, depicting the epic battle between the god Apollo and the giant serpent Python — a powerful and dynamic piece. Natalie was inspired by the natural beauty of a river in Lombok she once visited. The tranquil atmosphere is captured through the detailed depiction of water trickling between rocks.
Their artworks will be sent to be exhibited at the Grand Exhibition Hall of the International Art Museum of America in San Francisco from July 12–20, 2025.
Currently, Alicia, Jason, and Natalie are completing the registration and shipment process to the United States. Let us keep them in our prayers, that everything may go smoothly and that their work may be a testimony to God’s hand in their lives.
Soli Deo Gloria.
