Who says learning patterns is boring? Calvin Christian Kindergarten students proved otherwise through a fun activity of making Kawung Batik Fans!
They began by recognizing various patterns around them—polka dots, zigzags, checkered patterns, lines, and more. Then, white fabric was decorated with the Kawung batik motif using cardboard stamps shaped like leaves. Once the main motif was complete, students were free to add their own creative patterns.
The decorated fabric was then attached to a fan frame—and voilà! A handmade Kawung Batik fan was born—unique, beautiful, and filled with the creativity of their little hands.
Let’s discover the beauty of batik and create your own creative patterns! 🎨🖐️
