On June 2, 2026, students from Grades 1–6 of Calvin Christian Elementary School took part in an educational visit to Galeria Sophilia. Through this experience, they were introduced to various works of art and cultural artifacts from different historical periods, while learning to appreciate the beauty and meaning reflected in each work of art.
During the visit, the students explored several renowned works of art, such as La Primavera by Sandro Botticelli, representing the Renaissance period, and Madame Pompadour by François Boucher from the Rococo period. They also learned about various Christian paintings and explored the history and art of Chinese painting, discovering how art can serve as a means of conveying stories, values, and culture across different eras.
The students did more than simply observe, they also had the opportunity to engage in hands-on creative activities, such as creating calligraphy, designing stamp postcards, and making various clay creations. These activities encouraged their creativity, attention to detail, and ability to express their ideas through art.
The visit to Galeria Sophilia was both an enjoyable and meaningful learning experience. Through this activity, the students not only broadened their understanding of art history and culture, but also learned to appreciate creativity, beauty, and diversity as part of God’s gifts, which can be enjoyed through works of art.
