On March 3, 2025, the Principal of SMP Kristen Calvin officially inaugurated the Literacy Ambassadors and Library Friends, who were selected through a rigorous and challenging process.
They are not just book lovers—they are individuals committed to inspiring and fostering a reading culture within the school. The selection process was no easy feat. It began with tracking the most active library borrowers from July to December 2024. The student affairs team then carefully shortlisted candidates.
But their journey didn’t stop there. As part of their active literacy role, candidates had to compose and deliver speeches that not only demonstrated their understanding of literacy but also served as an inspiration to others. These speeches were evaluated by judges, and only the best advanced to the interview stage. Here, they were tested on more than just public speaking skills—they had to present their vision for promoting a reading culture at SMP Kristen Calvin.
