Heart-Shaping Series I – Beyond Behavior, Shaping the Heart

Educating children is not merely about managing behavior for temporary order.

It is a holy calling from God to touch their hearts—the center of every decision, motivation, and direction of life.

The time God gives to parents is so short. Parenting is a covenant with an “expiry date.” One day, our task will not only be to guide them, but also to send them out—to release them to walk in God’s calling. Therefore, every moment today is precious for shaping their hearts.

Children do not only need behavioral instructions, but heart instruction.

It is not enough to simply point out their mistakes without understanding why they do what they do. Behavior is only the fruit—and the heart is the root.

A child’s heart is deeply influenced by environment and relationships.

When the influences around them are dark, their hearts are easily drawn into darkness. But when they are continually surrounded by the light of God’s Word, love, and living examples, they will grow into individuals who are bright, strong, and full of character.

Children are “covenantal beings”—persons who live in relationship with God.

Within their hearts, an unseen battlefield is constantly taking place: between the power of sin and the power of the Gospel. Therefore, educating children is not merely about control, but about leading their hearts to Christ, the only One who can truly transform from within.

Good parenting begins with the awareness that children do not belong to us.

They belong to God, called to grow according to His design—not merely to fulfill the plans or ambitions of their parents.
